A Tailored winter cover reduces the risk of wear and tear

Our winter covers are tailor made for your boat for a perfect fit, every year. With a Winter Cover from Kapell & Annat, you can feel confident that your Winter Cover will stay in place during the autumn storms and protect the hull.

Winter covers are available for both motorboats and sailing boats!

Replace a regular winter tarpaulin with a Winter Cover for sailboat or motorboat from Kapell & Annat for your boat. By switching to a Winter Cover you will avoid the hassle of a tarpaulin that easily blows apart during the winter, has a large wind trap, collects moisture and can be difficult to mount successfully. We sew openable parts into the winter cover so that you can easily get into your sailboat or motorboat during the winter, and add reinforcements to the most vulnerable parts of the winter cover to ensure long durability. A Winter Cover makes the spring restoration easier and allows you to work in your motorboat or sailboat even during the winter.

Winter Cover in Fibertex or PVC

Winter Covers from Kapell & Annat are available in Fibertex fabric or PVC. Fibertex fabric is light, strong and breathable and is a felt-like material. The fabric is made of recyclable bioresistant material that is not attacked by mold and your Winter Cover does not rot either. Thanks to these properties, you reduce the risk of your boat being attacked by mold during damp autumn and winter days. In particularly exposed areas, the non-woven fabric is supplemented with PVC to prevent winter cover abrasion against the stand.

PVC is a very strong material suitable for winter covers in all weather conditions. PVC is more durable and can withstand high loads such as snow and ice. A Winter Cover in PVC is more common the further north you go.

  • Optional PVC classic

Winter covers can be made from ordinary PVC. The fabric weighs considerably more than Fibertex, about 640g/m2, but is at the same time very durable and can withstand greater loads from e.g. snow.

  • Optional TOP Gun

Top Gun is a gray lightweight pvc that is slightly stiffer than Stamoid and a very nice option. This is often used for those covering the boat in warmer climates.

  • Optional PVC Stamoid Top

Stamoid is a very fine lightweight PVC that is our most exclusive material for winter tarpaulins.

Handling and storage of Winter Covers

Depending on the size of the boat, the size of the winter cover will be made accordingly. For very large winter covers, an extra zipper is sewn in for easier assembly, handling and storage. Winter covers are best stored folded indoors during the summer for a better longevity. For sailboats, an openable part is usually added to the stern of the winter cover so that you can easily get into the boat when it is covered.

When installing a winter cover on your boat, set up the rack first and then cover the boat from bow to stern, unfolding your winter cover the further aft you go. Sometimes the rack may need to be adjusted slightly to ensure that the rack sits against the reinforcements on your winter cover. Once the winter cover is in place, ropes and other devices are tightened to fix the position of your winter cover.
